AGE & YEAR PLACEMENT
Placement considers the child’s age, previous class or year level, academic background and the School’s placement requirements.
Understand the key considerations, supporting documents and application requirements used during the STEAMBRIDGE admissions process.
STEAMBRIDGE International School considers each application individually. Our goal is to understand the learner’s background, readiness, previous school experience and relevant support needs before making an admission decision.
Admission decisions may consider the child’s age, previous academic experience, supporting documents, assessment or interview where applicable, and the availability of places.
EVERY LEARNER CONSIDERED INDIVIDUALLY
The current application form includes entry points from Playgroup through Year 5. Final placement is determined through the School’s admissions review process.
Admissions review looks at the learner as a whole rather than relying on a single document or assessment result.
Placement considers the child’s age, previous class or year level, academic background and the School’s placement requirements.
Previous learning, reports, classroom readiness and age-appropriate academic development may be considered during review.
Where applicable, transcripts, report cards, school history and transfer documents may be reviewed.
Information about language proficiency, previous learning support and educational needs helps the School understand the learner more fully.
Relevant health, allergy, medication and wellbeing information forms part of the application profile.
Admission and year-level placement remain subject to the availability of appropriate places at the time of application.
Appropriate placement is important for both academic progress and student wellbeing. The Admissions Team may consider several factors before confirming a year level.
Where additional information is required, families may be contacted before a final placement decision is made.
Considered alongside the learner’s overall profile and previous educational experience.
Previous school history helps establish the learner’s academic pathway.
Available reports or transcripts may support year-level placement decisions.
The School may request an age-appropriate assessment, interaction or interview where needed.
Document requirements may vary depending on the applicant’s circumstances, previous schooling and year of entry.
Three recent passport-size photographs of the student.
Attested copy of the student’s Birth Certificate or Passport.

Vaccination and immunization records.
Relevant certificates, awards or co-curricular records, where applicable.
Parent or legal guardian National ID copies and related identity documents.
Photographs or supporting documents for guardians or authorised escorts, where applicable.
Depending on the applicant’s age and year of entry, the School may request an assessment, student interaction, interview or additional information before finalising an admission decision.
Once the application and supporting information have been reviewed, the Admissions Team will advise the family on the next stage of the process.
Eligible applicants may receive an offer together with guidance on registration and enrolment.
The School may request additional documents, information, assessment or discussion before a final decision.
Where suitable places are not immediately available, the Admissions Team may advise families on available options.
Submission of an application does not guarantee admission. Admission is subject to the School’s admissions review, availability of places, required documentation, assessments where applicable, and relevant policies and procedures.
Parents and guardians should ensure that all information and supporting documents provided during the application process are complete, accurate and up to date.
